Ich hatte das Buch schon vor fast 30 Jahren erstmals gelesen - es ist sicher eines der besten zum Thema Vietnam-Krieg und zu dem, was damals mit den jungen Soldaten geschah, die ihrem/ihren Präsidenten Glauben schenkten. «Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country» hat viele junge Menschen in den Tod geschickt!
Der bestellte Artikel war innerhalb 2 Tagen im Briefkasten. Der Ablauf war einfach nund Problemlos. Ich würde jederzeit wieder bei dem Händler bestellen.
Das Buch ist nicht so wahnsinnig gut geschrieben, aber es gibt einen guten Einblick in den Vietnamkrieg. Ich setze es in der Schule ein, wo die Schüler nichts über diesen Krieg und die Konflikte in der amerikanischen Gesellschaft darüber wissen und da kann man es gut einsetzen.

As a survivor of Viet-nam (1970 Americal Division) this book is a reminder to me of how BULLS**T POLITICS and POLITICAL EGOS can forever alter the lives of human beings.In the summer of 1996, while traveling the Inside Passage to the Alexander Archipellago (S,E,Alaska) I had in my library a copy of "BORN ON THE 4th OF JULY". I thought I'd seen all the horrors of war but Ron Kovic opened my eyes!!!For another perspective on the Viet-nam era, while reading BORN ON THE 4th OF JULY, also read Larry Charriers -TIDELINES.Another interesting twist. Not more than 5 miles from my chair sits another monument to Viet-nam era STUPIDITY. "TURNER JOY"is still alive in the hearts of some as a legit excuse for this country to destroy the lives of innocent people.
"Born on the Fourth of July" is a fantastic novel about the tragedy and revival of Ron Kovic. He wanted to be John Wayne fighting the Vietnam War. He wanted to be an American hero. He truly turned out to be one. But, no thanks to the United States. Great Reading. You'll learn plenty about America and even about yourself.
I felt this book was a tragic tale of a Vietnam vet. The book was powerful and gripping. Once I got into it, I could not put it down. This is one of the best written Vietnam books that I have ever read.
